PLANNING AND ZONING - This section is staffed by 8 full-time employees - department director, county planner, planner II, planner I, assistant planner, zoning technician, Senior Staff Assistant and Staff Assistant I. The section is staff to the Board of County Commissioners, Planning Commission, Zoning Board of Adjustment, and Subdivision Advisory Committee. Section responsibilities include the following:
Providing public information and assistance
Reviewing construction permits for compliance with land development regulations
Administration and implementation of the County Comprehensive Plan
Correcting and amending the Future Land Use Map in the Comprehensive Plan
Reviewing and processing zoning, special exception, and variance cases
Assisting in the administration of the flood hazard area protection ordinance
Reviewing and processing subdivision plans
Correcting subdivision problems
Drafting and revising land development regulations
Assisting in the development and administration of Municipal Service
Benefit Units for road and drainage improvements and maintenance
Provide Emergency Service Function #5.
Information and Planning during emergency situations
