The Putnam County Volunteer Fire Service is comprised of eighteen (18) chartered volunteer fire departments funded partially by county fire tax funds and partially by private donations. Equipment and supplies are purchased by county purchase order from each department's allocated funds. Vehicle and personnel insurance is also funded by the county fire tax, along with training programs and infection control.
