Central Landfill: Household garbage, construction/demolition debris, yard trash, commercial/industrial waste, waste tires, lead acid batteries, waste oil and recyclables. Hazardous, medical, and bulk liquids are not accepted.
Huntington and Interlachen Solid Waste/Recycling Centers: Construction/demolition debris, yard trash, recyclables, waste oil, lead acid batteries and waste tires from homeowners (5 maximum per year).
Waste Pro is under contract with Putnam County Government to collect household garbage and yard trash from the unincorporated areas, Interlachen, Welaka, and Pomona Park.
They also collect recyclables from the unincorporated areas, Interlachen, Welaka, Pomona Park, Crescent City, and the City of Palatka.
Central Landfill of Palatka accepts oil, paint, tires, batteries, aluminum, steel, and aerosol cans, plastic and glass food and drink containers, and newspaper. Huntington Solid Waste/Recycling Center of Crescent City and the Interlachen Solid Waste/Recycling Center of Interlachen both accept oil, paint, tires, batteries, aluminum, steel, and aerosol cans, and plastic and glass food and drink containers. The recycling collection sites at the Kay Larkin Airport of Palatka, the City Lot of Welaka, Chiappini’s Gas Station of Melrose, and Long’s Garage of Pomona Park all accept oil.
Residential HHW materials can be brought to the Central Landfill, the Huntington Solid Waste/Recycling Center, and the Interlachen Solid Waste/Recycling Center between the hours of 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. This service is available to residents of Putnam County and the following materials are accepted: Used Motor Oil, Used Oil Filters, Antifreeze, Batteries, Waste Tires, Transmission Fluid, Brake Fluid, Fluorescent Light Bulbs, Paint, Pesticides, Insecticides, Herbicides, Fungicides, Fertilizers, Household Cleaners, Solvents, Degreasers, Adhesives, Gasoline and Unwanted Fuels, Pool Chemicals, Paint Thinners, Mercury Containing Items, Unwanted or Outdated Medications, and Smoke Detectors. Commercial small quantity generators are only accepted during special collection events. For more information call (386) 329-0395.
Call the Putnam County Mosquito Control office at 329-0397 and report the standing water. The area will be inspected/surveyed for mosquito breeding by a Pesticide Technician.
